Former Miss USA Turned Journalist Launches Official Website

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 20, 2009 -- Former Miss USA and Emmy Award winning journalist Lu Parker has been described as "One of the most respected broadcast journalists in Los Angeles" by one of Southern California's popular news websites. Now, this multi-faceted talent launches her official website at www.luparker.com. The new site offers visitors the opportunity to interact with Parker via her blog. It also gives fans and colleagues an up-close look at her life, work, and many exciting adventures.

For over a decade, Parker has reported on fires, floods, and earthquakes. Currently, television viewers in Southern California can tune in to see Lu on KTLA, Channel 5. She has interviewed countless celebrities and politicians including George W. Bush, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kanye West, Matt Damon, and Eva Longoria-Parker. Visitors to Parker's new site can watch her report from the Democratic Headquarters in Los Angeles as Barack Obama is elected.

Parker knows about winning! In 1994, in the course of only 3 months, she captured both the Miss South Carolina USA and Miss USA titles. She went on to place 4th in the Miss Universe Pageant. As you might expect, Lu worked hard to reach her pageant goals, but while competing, she noticed there was little information about how to succeed in the competitive world of pageants. She realized how others could benefit from a pageant guidebook that explained in detail the secrets to winning a pageant. Now in its 2nd publication, "Catching the Crown: The Source for Pageant Competition" continues to be a comprehensive guide for today's highly competitive pageant environment.

"If you want to win a pageant, you must read "Catching the Crown." Lu shows you easy, and proven ways to get the judges to pick you as the winner," says Pageantry Magazine CEO, Carl Dunn. Former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres was at the pageant the night Lu was crowned. Torres says, "Her poise, personality, elegance, and beauty were so impressive, there was no doubt in my mind she would win." Fans and pageant enthusiasts can find more about Parker's book on the new website.

In 2009, television and film fans can catch Lu on the FOX network hit show "Bones," and in the soon to be released ālm "Winged Creatures," starring Dakota Fanning. Parker has appeared on several other popular shows, including "Monk," "Commander in Chief," and "Shark." She recently appeared in the ālm "An American Carol," a comedy directed by David Zucker.

For Lu, positive feedback and success are the result of years of hard work. She says, "I have always believed staying focused, having a strong work ethic, and setting big goals for yourself helps one move forward. As a former pageant winner, teacher, actress, and journalist, I've spent countless hours perfecting my craft." Parker is only getting started. This year, she is set to make her mark in even bigger and better ways!

In her free time Lu is an advocate for homeless animals, and serves on the Board of Trustees at Saint Francis Hospital in Los Angeles. She participates in dozens of charity events annually raising money for children, animals and the needy.
